Obituary of Kathleen M. Goodspeed

Kathleen M. Goodspeed, 89, of Lansingburgh, passed peacefully on Monday, July 4, 2022 in Delmar.

Kathleen was born Catherine Duchance to Catherine Duchance Gratton and Harold

Gratton, she lived in a Home for Girls in Troy until her adoption on February 26, 1943, changing her name to Kathleen Mary Gratton.  She graduated from St. Mary’s School in Troy in 1948.  She met and married Ken in July 1961.  Kathleen and Ken were married for over 55 years and had six boys.

Kathleen resided most of her life in Lansingburgh, later spending time in Kentucky with family.   She was employed at Cohoes Textiles, St. Mary’s Hospital and the Lansingburgh School District in Food Service.

Kathleen was active in her community, serving Lansingburgh Miss Softball, Lansingburgh Independent Baseball and the Lansingburgh Veteran’s Club.  She was a long time member of St. Augustine’s Church.  She enjoyed bowling in leagues, Bingo and visiting casinos.  She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in all their endeavors.  She loved sports and was quite athletic in her younger days.  She loved her New York Mets. 

Kathleen leaves behind five sons; Kenny Jr., Harold “Howie” (Terrie), Roy (Tammy), Darryl (Brenda) and Shawn.  She has 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her husband Ken and son Kyle.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182 on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy.
