Obituary of Patricia A. Stone

Patricia “Pat” A. Stone, 84, of Clifton Park passed away peacefully on Feb. 9, 2025 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness.  She was born on March 6, 1940, in Glens Falls, NY.  Pat graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education.  Pat had been an educator for the Shenendehowa Central School District for over 40 years, where she worked as a first-grade teacher, reading teacher, administrator, and finally in Staff Development, teaching, training and coaching the school’s curriculum to the teachers.  After she retried from Shenendehowa she continued to teach Graduate Students for the College of St. Rose in Albany, one course per semester for the past 13 years.  She was also a member of the Capital Area Scholastic Development Agency and worked for other area schools on their mentorship programs.

She was the wife of the late Chester D. Stone, Jr., whom she married on March 30, 1960.  During their early years they often took the family camping to Newcomb and Sacandaga.  After their children were raised, they enjoyed boating on Lake George as members of the Harris Bay Yacht Club.  Pat was an avid reader, and loved spending time with her family, especially the time spent on Cape Cod.  Pat had been active with the Jonesville Methodist Church and volunteered with their food pantry.  Pat looked forward to her Saturday breakfast with her friends at Lakeside Farms in Ballston Lake and Snyder’s in Clifton Park.  Pat often would sit in her talking-chairs overlooking her backyard listening and offering her perspective, thoughts and insight to whomever happened to be in need of her unique wisdom.  Pat also enjoyed golf, bird watching and had so many other interests. She always put other’s needs before her own.  Pat loved and adored her grandchildren, taking an active interest in all of their life endeavors.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, John and Dorothy Harris Elder along with her granddaughter Lauren Stefanic.

She was the beloved mother of Karen Ann Stefanic (Brad) of Vergennes, VT, Chester “Chet” Stone, III (Lisa) of Ballston Lake and Lisa Mid Vedder (Jeff) of Jonesville; sister of William Elder  (Donna) of S. Glens Falls; Gram to Zachary Stone (John), Samantha Vedder – Wescott, Esq. (Colin), Sarah Vedder (David) and Logan Stone; Gigi to Kamden, Abigail, Kaeden, Anastasia and Margo; Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held in the Spring at Jonesville Methodist Church followed by her interment in Jonesville Cemetery.
