Obituary of David C. Pause

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

David C. Pause, 85, of Ballston Lake, beloved husband for nearly 61 years to Carol Ann Tomasone Pause, peacefully entered into eternal life on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Dave was born May 1939 to the late Dietrich and Marion Lombardi Pause. He spent nearly his entire life in the Capital area of upstate New York. Born in Schenectady, NY, he was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in Schenectady, Class of 1957, SUNY Albany where he earned both his BS in Business Education in 1961 and his MS in Business in 1965.

Family and friends meant the world to Dave as he is survived by his loving wife Carol Pause and two children David S Pause and his wife Ann and Suzanne Curtin and husband Bill. Also sharing a close part in Dave’s life are two wonderful brothers, Keith Pause and his wife Ruth along with Bruce Pause and his wife Patty. Over the years Dave was so happy to see his family grow with five grandchildren, Michael Pause, Leah Curtin, Hannah Pause, William Curtin and Thomas Curtin.  Last November, Dave was so proud to become a great grandfather to Noah Gabriel Pause.

Beyond Dave’s dedication to his family, he had several things which were very close to his heart – Mont Pleasant High School, the sport of wrestling, and his interest in coin collecting.

Mont Pleasant High School was a major part of Dave’s life for over 35 years as a student and educator.  As a passionate educator he taught business and computer classes along with proudly running the Student Store and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA). The Student Store, the hub of the school, is where the skills needed to run a business were learned while creating funds used for the needs of the school. He was able to maintain strong connections with many of his former students for his entire life.  Mont Pleasant is also where Dave found his passion for the sport of wrestling, which as an athlete carried onto a successful career at SUNY Albany. Enthusiastically he passed that passion for the sport down to both of his kids and all the grandchildren.

Among his hobbies he enjoyed technology and was affectionately referred to those closest to him as a gadgeteer.  However, his lifelong interest was collecting coins and talking with those who shared his enthusiasm in the hobby.
