Obituary of Denise L. Forgett

Denise L. Forgett, 75, of Pleasantdale (Town of Schaghticoke), beloved wife of the late James J. Forgett, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of Elsie Dolan Craig and raised by her grandparents Andrew and Elsie Dolan. She was educated in Lansingburgh and Lansingburgh High School.

Denise was a true homemaker, loving nothing more than taking care of family, enjoying all of the family activities and events, get togethers and never would miss anything even when her health should have held her back.

She enjoyed fishing, camping and most of all loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh where she was married and had all of her family receive many sacraments there over the years.

Devoted mother of Dena (Jamey) Garrant and James J. “Jim” Forgett, sister of Rose (late, John Cruickshank and the late, Bill Heeder) Cruickshank, cherished grandmother of Shannon Forgett Patrick, Jamey Garrant, Sarah (Wayne) Winchester, Amanda Forgett and James Forgett, adored great grandmother of Alexsis Patrick, Nathan Patrick, Ameliah Patrick, Elliana Winchester and Rowen Winchester and several other great grandchildren, also survived by her special close and best friend Kathleen Gibbins and several nieces and nephews and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and to the Funeral Service that afternoon at 1:00 p.m. all at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.

Interment is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY 12871.

There will be a reception to follow at 4:15 p.m. at Pleasantdale Fire House, 1181 River Road Troy, NY 12182.

Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN 38105, in memory of Denise L. Forgett.
