Maud “Hope” Wilson Davis, 91, of Schaghticoke, beloved wife of the late Thomas Emerson Davis, Jr., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, March 3, 2025.

 

Born in Glen Cove, LI, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rowan and Maud Murray Wilson and was a graduate of Westbury High School and Russell Sage College where she earned her BS in Education.

 

Mrs. Davis retired from the Brittonkill Central School District in Brunswick where she had been a Teacher for 24 years. She thoroughly enjoyed her elementary school teaching career, teaching 4th and & 5th grades at Tamarac Elementary School. After retirement, she enjoyed her split residency between New York and Wyoming. She and her husband enjoyed many adventures in and thru the Rocky Mountains. She served as Treasurer of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation where she often helped organize their fundraisers for the Jackson Hole Chapter. She enjoyed hosting their friends and relatives at their home in Wyoming.

 

She loved her family, including her Maryland family and also enjoyed cooking for her family especially for holidays.

 

Hope was an accomplished seamstress and would also crochet beautiful blankets, enjoyed card games, word games, crosswords, cribbage and was very competitive in those endeavors. She was a pioneer in the interest of computer technology. She was quite technologically inclined and was among the first teachers to request and implement computer technology in the classroom. She enjoyed music, especially piano music and also golfing for a period of time.

 

Beloved mother of Rowanne (Warren) Fane, Jr., Thomas Emerson Davis, III and the late Sandra “Kay” (Glenn) Akin, cherished grandmother of Chelsea Kay (David) Baranowski, Warren Thomas Fane and Thomas Bryan Akin (Alina), adored great grandmother of Delaney Kay Baranowski, Carter David Baranowski and Graysen Hunter Aubin, sister of the late Margaret (late, Calvin) Degnan, sister-in-law of Nancy Lee (late, James) Bennett, daughter-in-law of the late Anne and Thomas Davis, also survived by several cherished nieces and nephews.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the Corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 and to the Funeral Service that evening at 7:00 p.m. also in the funeral home.

 

Spring interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery, Schaghticoke.

 

Hope’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to current caregivers Cathy, Lisa, Micki, Audrey, Angelica, Leanne, Missy and Jen for the fun and invaluable care and support which they provided.
