

Obituary of Barbara D. Baker
Barbara D. Baker, 96, of Arnold Avenue, Latham, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Born in St. Johnsbury, VT, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Homer and Mary Josephine Lougee Daniels. She was raised and educated in Montpelier, VT and attended college at the Junior College in Montpelier and at Houghton College. Following school, she was a ward secretary at Samaritan Hospital for about 5 years and was a dental assistant and receptionist for John Essepian, DDS, in Latham from 1973 until her retirement.
Mrs. Baker was a Den Mother for Pack 37 of the Boy Scouts of America in Center Brunswick. She was a member of the Loudonville Community Church, having served as a Primary Dept. Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir, and an active member of the Rachel Circle of the Women’s Association. She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Albany Camp of The Gideons International, having served in most of its offices, as well as on the NYS Cabinet.
She was predeceased by her husband, Almer B. Baker, Jr. She is survived by nine children: Mrs. George “Cynthia” Wilson of Colchester, VT, Mrs. Alan "Deborah" Lemery of Essex Junction, VT, Mrs. Joseph “Linda” Hanley of Queensbury, Paul D. Baker of Fredericksburg, VA, David M. Baker of Bethlehem, PA, Bruce S. Baker of Latham, Philip A. Baker of Brownington, VT, Mrs. Dennis “Cathy” Hudson of South Burlington, VT, Douglas G. Baker of Marlow, NH; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 nephews and a niece.
The funeral service will be held at the Loudonville Community Church, 374 Loudon Road (Route 9 and Crumite Road), Loudonville, NY 12211 on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. There will be no viewing hours.
The interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871 on May 5th at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions in memory of Barb be made to “The Gideons International”, P.O. Box 743, Troy, NY 12181, or at gideons.org to provide more Scriptures for the world.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Morris - Stebbins - Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy.
