Obituary of Robert J. Erhartic

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

In Loving Memory Of Our Family And Friend Bob.

Robert J. "Bob" Erhartic, 74, passed away into eternal rest on January 24, 2025 at Westchester Medical Center, in NY.

Bob was born to Stanley and Myrtle Turner Erhartic.

Bob is predeceased in death by both of his parents and his Uncle Frank (Blanche) and Uncle Lou (Lillian).

He is survived by his brothers; Thomas (Carla) and Richard (Deanie), and many cousins!!  Bob is also survived by his dear friend; Sarah Hall and her two sons and his dear friend Jerry Greenlaw and his family who were great neighbors. Bob is a loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews and is Godfather to his nephew, Scott Erhartic.

Bob was born on December 1, 1950 in NYC, NY.  He attended St. Agnes Elementary and High School and graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 1972.

Bob worked for Westchester County as a Senior Systems Programmer Data Communications in the Information Systems Division. He was sought after by his colleagues (including his brother's Thomas and Richard who worked on main-frames and teaching, and not laptop technology).

Bob was an enthusiastic outdoor person, who loved nature, hiking, photography and travel. Bob hiked as the group leader for many other outdoor enthusiasts.  He also loved the Appalachian Trail and he enjoyed it because there were scattered concrete shelters in case of bad weather.  One story Bob told was he always searched the shelters to see if there were animals instead of people camping. The first one had a large coiled snake that was quite comfortable but they had tools to safely remove it and transport to another area.

After retirement, Bob joined AARP as a Regional Director and traveled to Community Centers, Senior Housing apartment homes in order to assist Seniors (for free); to complete their taxes.

During the three boys youth, Bob's mom (Myrtle) taught the three sons to cook, clean, complete grocery lists and to grocery shop on their bikes. Many of us benefited from the cooking lessons.

Some of his favorite shows were British mystery movies; Ms. Marple, Columbo, Monk, Andy Griffith, Dick Van Dyke and more. The music he enjoyed were the Beatles, Bread, CCR, Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, and many more.

Also, we offer our deepest thanks and respect to Emerick Funeral Home - Mike Barna, VP and his assistant Shannon. Deeply hardworking and compassionate people.

The family will also be mailing out Memorial DVDs shortly, in Bob's memory.
