Obituary of Ronald W. Bustin
Ronald W. Bustin, 82, of Clifton Park, NY, entered into eternal life at the Hudson Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Ron was the son of the late Rose and Irving Bustin and was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Donna L. Bustin after more than 56 years of marriage.
Ron was born in New York City and received his BA and MA in Russian from the State University of New York at Albany. He was the very first graduate from SUNY Albany as a Russian Major. He also did advanced graduate work in Russian through National Defense Education Act Scholarships at Dartmouth College, Indiana University and at the University of Moscow as a foreign exchange student. He has been to Russia four times, including his honeymoon in 1969.
Ron was most proud of the fact that many of his former students have used their Russian language skills while working for the FBI, NSA, CIA and U.S. Army Military Intelligence. He also enjoyed helping students prepare to enter college and win awards on the state, national and international levels.
After retiring from teaching at Watervliet Jr./Sr. High School where he taught Russian and German for 34 years, Ron and his wife enjoyed travelling, visiting numerous foreign countries, including over 30 cruises. He also enjoyed vacations each summer in Chatham, Mass., on Cape Cod.
