Obituary of Claudia (Goncharuk) O'Brien

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Claudia (Goncharuk) O’Brien, on December 21, 2025, of natural causes.

She was born in Cohoes, NY, on August 26, 1944, and has been a long-time resident of Clifton Park.

She is survived by her significant other, Ed Plew, her sister, Dolores Hubert, her three children, Cristen Aquino (Tom), Erin Gilbert (Louis), and Terry O’Brien (Melissa), and her five grandchildren - Samuel Aquino, Cayla Aquino, Alexis O’Brien, John O’Brien, and Gabrielle Gilbert.

Claudia’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a loving and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and a dear friend to many.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mildred Goncharuk, and her brother, Russell.

Claudia was employed by the NYS Department of Labor as a tax compliance agent supervisor.

Calling Hours will be held at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065 on Monday, Dec. 29, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a Funeral Service being offered there at 1:00 pm followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waterford.
