Obituary of Eleanor J. Elletson

Eleanor J. Kittle Elletson, 89, of Cohoes, peacefully entered into eternal life on Friday, January 2, 2026 at The Eddy Village Green in Cohoes.

 

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Margaret Spiers Galligan, Jr. and the wife of the late Lawrence W. Jones. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Class of 1954 and Albany Business College, Class of 1983.

 

She retired from Prentice Hall (Infosearch) in Albany where she was an Executive Assistant and was previously employed at Garden Way Mfg. in Troy.

 

Eleanor was a woman of great devotion and faith. Upon returning to the area from Tennessee, she became a communicant of St. Pius X Church in Loudonville. Most of all, she loved spending time raising and nurturing her children and grandchildren.

 

Devoted mother of Mary Eileen (George) Menakis, the late, Cynthia (husband, Joseph) Martin, Ellie (Michael) Ingalsbe, Kathy (Greg) Lanni, Christine (Brett) Gregory, Scott (Eileen) Kittle and Sean (Kelli Rivers) Kittle, sister of Margaret Rutolo, the late, Joseph E. Galligan, III and George F. Galligan Sr.; sister-in-law of the late, Peg Evans, Myra Galligan, Lloyd Austin and Carmen Rutolo; cherished grandmother of Alexandra, Peter, Steven and Nicholas Menakis, Matthew (Carol) Cushman, Amy Bridges, Greg (Katie) Cushman, Emmy (Josh Wisniowski) Ingalsbe, Alison (Jeff) Sokol, Brooks (Rachel) Ingalsbe, Lauren (Federico) Castellucci, Erin (David) McKeon, Jessica and Nathan (Kelly) Rafter, Benjamin (Melanie) Gregory,  Brandon (Lindsay) Gregory, Sean L. (Christine), Tyler (Sarah), Christopher (Kelly) Kittle, Dominic, Eamon, Seth and Jordan Kittle, great grandmother of Sophia and Michaelangelo Fusco, Hunter and Anna Bridges, Elliott, Noah, Ella and Emma Cushman, Walter and Theodore Sokol and Nolan Wisniowski, Olivia, Vivian, Michael, and Cecilia Castellucci, Hyla and Alina McKeon, Joseph Gregory, Brooks Ingalsbe, Wyatt, Belle,  Ethan, Nash, Nicole, Luke and Noelle Kittle. Eleanor was predeceased by her companion Hunter Bailey Currin, who is survived by his children who are near and dear to her; Chad (Lisa Bonaquist) Currin, Cailie Currin (Margaret Jones) and Zan Currin (late, Marc Willett), and Hunter’s grandchildren to include Sydney Boles, Dr. Marley Bonaquist-Currin and Biruk Currin. Eleanor is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy and to the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211.

 

Interment will be held in St. Jean’s Cemetery, Troy.
