
Obituary of Sean P. Coffey
Sean Patrick “Seanie” Coffey, 56, of Averill Park, NY, formerly of South Troy, passed away on January 30, 2026 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Sean was born on May 16, 1969 in Troy to the late James J. Coffey, Jr. & Maureen (Hickey) Coffey and was a graduate of Troy High School, Class of 1987.
Sean was a hard worker since the age of 7, helping customers carrying their bags. At the age of 16, Sean began working at the Beverage Mart and also with his childhood friend Terry and his dad Dallas Rankin with his roofing business. Shortly after high school, Sean started his job with the Norton Company (currently Saint-Gobain) for the past 37 years.
He enjoyed music, cooking, making his famous pickles, gardening, and meticulously maintaining the outdoors of he and Lynn’s home. He always had his 2 beloved dogs, Mila and Chip by his side. Sean’s favorite time was spent with his family, especially traveling on their “Vay-Cay-Sean’s” together.
In addition to his mother Maureen, Sean is also survived by his beloved wife Lynn, her children Amanda Piel DiPierro (Zack) and Eric Piel; Sean adored their grandchildren, Aidah, Caleb and Mayah, her “Sean-Pa”, his sister Lynn M. Coffey of Raquette Lake, NY, his father-in-law, Bernie Amos of Kingston, NY, his brother-in-law and best friend “Brother” since 6th grade, Brian (Kristine) Amos of Troy, his nephew/ Godson Dillon Amos & his nieces Sarah & Saige “Uncle Sean”, his brother-in-law Larry Amos of Troy, sister-in-law Jeanette Steinbauer of Ashland, VA, her children Michaela and Carson, Uncles George Coffey and Donald Coffey, Cherished Aunt Louise Coffey, Lorraine Hickey-Korf, and his cousins, Michael (Dana), Deb, Kevin (Karen) Hickey; Lisa (Jim) Harris, Brian (Michelle), Mark (Amy) Coffey; Dennis (Judy) and Mags Coffey and their families. Many childhood and dear brotherly work friends.
In addition to his father Jimmy, Sean was also predeceased by his mother-in-law, Marge (Hogan) Amos (his 2nd mom growing up), his Grandparents, James and Margaret (Casey) Coffey, Harold and Margaret (O’Neill) Hickey, his Uncles Jack Hickey, George Gallagher, Aunts Margaret Gallagher, Kathleen Hickey and Mary Coffey and his Cousin Stephen Coffey.
Relatives and friends are invited to St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church, 28 State St., Troy, NY 12180 on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 for Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. and for the Mass of Christian Burial which will begin at 11:00 a.m. which will be celebrated by Rev. Richard Donovan, Pastor and assisted by Deacon Charles Z. Wojton, a lifelong family friend and like an Uncle to Sean. For those not able to attend, the Mass will be livestreamed by joining

Interment will be held private at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy.
