
Obituary of Edmund J. Grennon
Edmund J. Grennon, 89, of Halfmoon, beloved husband for 69 years to Marion “Patt” Wrzochalski Grennon, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.
Born in Cohoes, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary Halloran Grennon and was a graduate of Cohoes High School and then completed his education at Hudson Valley Community College.
Mr. Grennon was the longtime Proprietor of Machnick Builders in Green Island, NY. He began working there in 1958 and in 1964 was promoted to Vice President. In 1969 he would take over as President of the company. Throughout his tenor with Machnick Builders, he formed lasting relationships with companies such as Mobile Gas Corp, McDonalds, Hess and Clemente Concrete as well as many other businesses throughout the capital region. The family run business continues on today.
Edmund was a skilled craftsman and believed in giving back to his community. He was a member of the West Crescent Volunteer Fire Co., the West Crescent Baseball League where he served for many years as a Coach and also assisting with the construction of the fields, a member of the Tri-City Racquetball Club and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Crescent.
He enjoyed golfing, tennis, fishing, had an affinity for the Adirondacks and in particular Lake Placid, enjoyed spending time in Boca Raton, FL, owned his own bobsled and even served as a deadweight in place of one of the bobsledders who did not show up to a race.
Edmund’s true passion was his love and dedication to his family of which he was so proud of.
Beloved husband to Patt, devoted father of Theresa (Steve) Conroy, Katherine M. Grennon, Edward (Sue) Grennon, John (Tami) Grennon, Sandra (Tim) Cook, Timothy (Suzanne) Grennon, Patricia (Dean) Biernat, Scott Grennon, Kevin (Felicia) Grennon, Erica (Jim) Foley and the late Jeffrey Grennon and the late Thomas Grennon, brother of Patricia (Joseph) Savoie, Gretchen (Rudy) Normandin, the late, William (late, Elizabeth) Grennon and the late John (late, Alberta) Grennon, also survived by 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to St. Mary’s Church (Crescent) 86 Church Hill Rd., Waterford, NY 12188 on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. for Calling Hours and for the Mass of Christian Burial which will follow beginning at Noon.
