
Obituary of John G. Sluti
JOHN GEORGE SLUTI
John G. Sluti, 86, of Ballston Lake, beloved husband for 36 years to Diane Dickson Sluti, peacefully passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.
Born in Troy, NY, Mr. Sluti was the son of the late Michael John and Mabel Luther Sluti and was educated in Jonesville/Clifton Park in the Shenendehowa Central Schools.
Mr. Sluti was a professional jockey for many years, an employee of Northway 11, and then later became a bus driver with the Shenendehowa Central Schools. Mr. Sluti served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 and was awarded an Honorable Discharge.
Mr. Sluti enjoyed being in his man cave and playing pool. He especially loved riding his e-bike around the neighborhood. In his earlier years, he was an avid weightlifter and a deadlift champion.
Beloved husband to Diane, devoted father of Dawn Bush (Michael), Karen Laster (Robert), Teresa Alger (Ronald), Kenneth Sluti (Jodi), Sondra Parks (Todd), James Sluti (Becky), Lisa Maune, brother of Stanley Sluti (Wanda), the late Linda Lindell, the late Rosemary Clancy (William), and Darlene Hinrichs (William); cherished grandfather of Michael Bush, Brendan Bush, Collin Laster (Grace), Connor Laster (Kara), Mackenzie Laster, Gavin Alger (Allison), Molly Alger, Davis Alger (Kiana), Kaden Sluti (Hollie), Kaleb Sluti (Julia), Kenneth Sluti Jr., Juliana Sluti, Megan Parks, Ryan Parks, Jillian Parks, Greyson Parks, Adalyn Sluti, Treyton Sluti, and Ayla Maune; adored great grandfather of River Laster, Liliana Laster, Rosalie Laster, Elliot Laster and William Alger, also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville, NY 12871 on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 for the 11:00 a.m. Committal Ceremony with military honors. Those attending are asked to assemble just inside the entrance of the cemetery on the right no sooner than 10:35 a.m. and not any later than 10:55 a.m.
