I am very sorry to hear about Barney's passing. I first met Barney back in the 1970's when we were both active in the Catskill 3500 Club. I took quite a few hikes with him and found him to be a congenial man and never lost for words. I recall him being an avid cyclist who loved travelling around in his van. A few years later when trips were taking me on Route 20 I'd sometimes stop to see him at the Hess gas station in New Lebanon and if I saw him at his small cottage in Brainard I'd stop to catch up with his latest activities; helping maintain the small cemetery near by and his adventures as a Civil War reenactor. May he rest in peace.
