Rudolph "Rudy" V. Usenza, 84, of the Schuyler Ridge Residential Health Care Center and former Bethpage, Long Island, NY resident, passed away on Tuesday Dec. 1, 2020 at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Feb. 23, 1936 and was the son of the late Ralph and Rose Albamonte Usenza. At age 8, Rudy worked a horse & buggy fruit cart. As a teenager, Rudy worked as a roller skating rink guard, where he would meet his wife of 30 years, Barabra Usenza. Rudy and Barbara, operated an exterminating business for nearly 20 years in Bethpage, NY. Rudy was a master of numerous trades and worked various positions including brick laying, carpentry, and construction. In addition to his work career, Rudy was also a Bethpage volunteer fireman. Rudy had numerous hobbies, and had always been a true outdoorsman, owning property in upstate NY, where he would raise horses, hunt, and simply enjoy and respect what nature has to offer. Rudy was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, having been a member of two motorcycle groups, The Over The Hill Gang and The Re-Treads, and would enjoy extended trips with some of his closest friends. He is the devoted father of Lorraine D. (Nicholas) Hassett of Colmar, PA and Kathleen (Joseph) Howard of Ballston Lake, NY; brother of the late Lucy Means, Salvatore and Joseph Usenza; cherished grandfather of Steven Hassett, Robert Hassett, Allyson Hassett and Christina Howard; great grandfather of Logan, Parker and Essie; also survived by several nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be conducted for the immediate family.
