Walter Robert Knell III, 79, of Goldfield Lane died on Thursday Sept. 23, 2021 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a long illness.  He was born in Elma, NY on April 12, 1942 and was the son of the late Walter R. and Ruth Ertel Knell, Jr.  Walter was a graduate of Iroquios High School and was a US Army veteran  serving honorably from 1961-1964.  He had been a supervisor for American Airlines in Colonie for 36 years.  He enjoyed games of chance, including casino slots and  the Saratoga Track.  An avid sport enthusiast, he was a fan of the NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills  and the NY Giants.  Most important to Walter was spending time with his family and grandchildren.

 

He is the beloved husband of Theresa A. Woronowski Knell; devoted father of Jason W. (Laurie) Knell of Melville, NY; brother of Thomas Miller of Buffalo, NY and the late Lola Rose Howick; cherished grandfather of Alexandra M. and Hunter A. Knell; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral will be held on Friday morning at 10:15 in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.  A calling hour will start at 9:30 am Friday in the funeral home.

 

Interment with full military honors will be in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
