Thorold Goddard Smith, Jr., 82, of Clifton Park passed away peacefully on Monday Nov. 6, 2023 at his residence.  He was born August 24, 1941 in Rochester, NY and was the son of the late Thorold G. and Katherine McCaughey Smith.  Ted graduated from Irondequoit High School, LaFayette College in Pennsylvania with his bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering, and his master’s degree from Purdue University.  He had been a civil engineer for NYS DOT for over 30 years working in Albany. 

 

He is the beloved husband of Virginia Blagrave Smith, whom he married on July 10, 1965.  He is the devoted father of Thorold G. Smith, III and Sarah Elizabeth Hesler (David); brother of the late Mary Anne Vizy and Howard Everett Smith; grandfather of Madeleine, Katharine, Ryan, Thorold G Smith, IV and Jennifer Glenn; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Jonesville Cemetery, Clifton Park, NY.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY  12065.
