Obituary of Robert Johnson

Robert Johnson, 75, of Troy, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Born in Fitzgerald, GA, he was the son of the late Casper Wade Johnson and the late Coral Lee Reliford Johnson. He was a graduate of Troy High school and attended Albany Business College for one and a half years.

Mr. Johnson had been employed at Comfortex in Colonie and had retired in 2010 from Norton Co. (Saint Gobain) in Watervliet where he was a Computer Operator.

During high school and his time at Albany Business College, Robert was a profound basketball player. Additionally, he particiapated in track and softball. His love of outdoors continued as an adult. As a member of the Panters Baseball Club, he played along with many of his high school friends. The Panthers played baseball for many years throughout the Capital District. This union of friends, Robert "PJ" developed continued thereafter. Robert's love of sports was always visible. He enjoyed wathcing the games and playing an occasional game of pool.   

Devoted father of Troy Graves (Renee Jones-Graves) and Jacquelina “Jacquie” Johnson, and of Kariym Johnson, Felisa Johnson and Tarina Johnson. Dear brother of Elinora D. Dantley of Quincy, FL and Benjamin Johnson, cherished grandfather of 19, adored great grandfather of 17 and was anticipating the arrival of his 18^th great grandchild, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Robert’s Home Going Service will be celebrated by Rev. Jackie Robinson, Pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lansingburgh on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Ave (at the corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 where the viewing will also be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. that morning.
