Obituary of Susan M. Paepke

Susan M. Paepke, 67, of Strawberry Court died on Sunday June 4, 2017 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.  She was born on April 28, 1950 in Albany and was the daughter of Ruth LaMere Czwakiel and the late James Czwakiel.  She received her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Albany and was the beloved wife of Robert Paepke, whom she married on Sept. 11, 1999.  She had been a technical assistant for the NYS Department of Civil Service in Albany and had also worked for the NYS Department of Labor.  She retired in 2004.  Susan spent many hours volunteering and fundraising for the PanCan Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, as well as the Lustgarten Foundation.  She enjoyed traveling, seeing many new places, and had a great love for animals. 

In addition to her husband, Susan is survived by her sons, Jon Kaminski and David (Kristin O’Connor) Kaminski; her stepsons, Daniel and Kevin Paepke; her sister, Lynn (Tom) Kabatra; her cherished grandchild, Connor Kaminski; also survived by a nephew, two nieces and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 am in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 in Clifton Park, NY 12065.

Calling hours will be from 5-8 pm Wednesday in the funeral home.

Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY.
