Obituary of Edward M. Tomeck
Edward M. Tomeck, 75, of Clifton Park, beloved husband for 52 years to Barbara Reveley Tomeck, peacefully entered into eternal life in the comfort of his home surrounded by and in the loving care of his family on the 7th of November, 2024.
Born and raised in Saratoga Springs, NY, he was the son of the late John M. and Margaret Penzer Tomeck and was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School where he excelled academically and was a three-sport athlete in baseball, football and basketball. He then earned his BA in Biology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA in 1971.
Mr. Tomeck, affectionately known as Ed, retired as Vice President and Chief Commercial Lending Officer for NBT Bank in Colonie. He joined NBT Bank in 1991 as a Commercial Lender eventually becoming the head of the Commercial Loan Committee for the regional bank. From 1972 to 1991 Ed worked for TrustCo Bank. During his time in banking he participated in several charities, acting as an ambassador to the Special Olympics for several years.
Ed loved golf, recreational basketball and racquetball, and supported the New York Giants and the Mets. He was known for his love of camping, vacationing at the beach, and throwing annual Halloween and Christmas parties for friends and family. He enjoyed gardening and working outside. Later in life Ed and his wife travelled in Europe, the Carribean, and Wyoming, Arizona, and Florida. Ed was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Beloved husband of Barbara Tomeck; devoted father of Laura (Kent) Wyman and Brian Tomeck; brother of John M. (Phyllis) Tomeck, Jr., Peter Tomeck, Emma (Alan) Smith and the late Joseph Tomeck; cherished grandfather of Brooke Wyman, Allison Wyman and Jacklyn Tomeck, he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday November 13th at 9:30 am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY 12065.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Tuesday November 12th from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park.
The Tomeck family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to Community Hospice and to the St. Peter’s Hospital ALS Regional Center for their loving care and support provided to Ed and his family.
