Bino-
From the moment our family met you we loved you. You were the topic of many dinner conversations about running and grit. You only thought about making the kids better, never yourself. Our time was too short. May God grant you eternal peace.

Bino,
Your humor, wit, sarcasm, love and devotion to track and field will be missed greatly. I hope you know the magnitude of the lives you’ve shaped. I would not be who or where I am today without you. I was beyond lucky to have you as my coach and I cannot thank you enough for all of the hours spent with and for me.
With love,

Bino, You were a light, a cornerstone of my experience at Holy Names. I always felt safe and supported around you, especially as a ski racer. You were always checking in on my team to make sure we had everything we needed; You would catch me in the halls on a break or just passing near the gym, making sure to say hello and crack a joke to make me smile. You were an incredible Spanish teacher and I'm still on a journey to become fluent in this lifetime. Rest easy. A lot of people love you.

Cherubino -- you had an amazing gift for helping people realize their potential. Thanks for believing, recognizing, and nurturing the talents you saw in all of us. I met you for the first time when I ran into the upper school to meet Rachel after track practice. The first thing you asked was whether I was planning on running track. The moment I was convinced was my first track race at an indoor meet at RPI where I ran the 600m. Racing on the track felt like pure joy and in the middle of the social and developmental awkwardness of being in middle school, it felt like a place I belonged. I loved running and felt even more lucky to find a coach who felt the same. Cherubino, thank you. You channeled a love for running into building a team where we felt supported, worked hard, and chased lofty goals. Thanks for dedicating your weekends to driving the school vans, invitationals and track meets, hosting workouts in the UAlbany tunnels or track. You made us better, you showed us how to work hard and live with passion. You were known at track meets for your loud voice, racing around the track and screaming every ounce of effort out of us, stopwatch in hand. I cherish the many memories of workouts at Albany high, van rides, winter runs when Rachel, Claire, and I raced to St. Peters and back, practicing steeple chase jumps in the sand pit at UAlbany, calling you to chat about the workouts I ran in college after I graduated, and the long conversations in your office about race strategy and running goals. I miss you. Thank you for inspiring so many of us to run, work hard, be our best.

I am so saddened by this loss and I send my condolences to his family. Carlos will be missed by so many people. I believe I was on his first track team, and he was such an inspiration. He had a way of making every practice so much fun. His impact was truly profound—he touched countless lives, and his spirit and energy will live on in all the wonderful memories at Holy Name, and undoubtedly in his personal life as well. May his memory be cherished by all. Rest easy, Carlos, You were deeply loved.

Sad day
Lost a long time fellow coach
And better friend …..
I knew Carlo as a Coach and friend for the better part of 50 years. He embodied all that was good in sports! A worthy competitor … he was always a gentleman and a gentle man. He led in the most difficult manner … through his own good example.
He greeted everyone with a smile and although very busy … he always found time for all. Whenever I saw him, his presence brought a smile to my face.
I am very thankful that our granddaughter got to have him as a teacher and coach at Holy Names. I am sure that he will have a lasting impact on her life. The family connection runs deeper as our daughter coached at AHN when Carlo served as the AD.
Someday the sadness felt today will dissipate. But the fond memories will linger forever in my mind and heart.
You have run the good race, my friend.
Along the way you have taught us all how to be better and to do it right.
Rest now in the arms of the Lord …
Your smile will bring a special warmth to Heaven this day….
Dr John Metallo
