Obituary of Edward C. Szemkow

Edward C. "Ed" Szemkow, 48, of Menands, peacefully entered into eternal life on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.
Born in Troy, he is the beloved son of Paul J. Szemkow, Sr. of Lansingburgh and the late Ruth Jones Szemkow and is the stepson of Mary M. Wagner Szemkow. He was educated in the Brittonkill Central Schools and was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy.
Ed had been employed by the New York State Department of State in Albany.
He enjoyed writing short stories and poems, was a devout Catholic, friend of Bill W. and enjoyed Sunday dinner with his Dad.
In addition to his beloved father Paul, stepmother Mary, her children and their families, Ed is survived by his siblings; Paul J. (Joyce) Szemkow, Jr. of Syracuse, Judith (late, Jim) Lucia of Interlaken, FL and John (Jessica) Szemkow of Hawaii, his nephew Max (Danielle) and their daughter Isabella, nieces Candace and Katrina and her son Luke.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. from the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182, thence to St. Augustine's Church, Lansingburgh where at 9:30 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
