Obituary of Gertrude E. Jenkins

Gertrude E. "Gertie" Jenkins, 86, of Columbus, GA, formerly of 1022 Ninth Avenue in Lansingburgh, beloved wife of the late Noble Jenkins, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, in Columbus, GA.
Born and educated in Troy, New York, she was the daughter of the late William Wilson and the late Margaret Dickerson Wilson.
Mrs. Jenkins retired from the New York State Department of Education in Albany where she had been employed for 30 years.
Gertie enjoyed shopping and dining out.
She had been an active member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Troy and also enjoyed volunteering at Church in the kitchen.
Devoted mother of Earl H. (Marlene) Jenkins of Baltimore, MD, Noble (Dorinda) Jenkins of Columbus, GA and the late Scott E. (Ragina Jenkins of Columbus, GA) Jenkins, sister of Carol and Patricia, cherished grandmother of Noble Jenkins, III, Steven (Shimika) Jenkins, Olivia (Stanley) Broughton, Tiffany Jenkins, Lauren (Daoud) Brathwaite and Ramon Jenkins, also survived by her Goddaughter Dynese, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Bethel Baptist Church, 2165 Fifth Avenue, Troy, New York 12180 and to the Home Going Service in Church which will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
