Obituary of Don I. Seymour

Don I. Seymour, 88, entered into eternal rest on Saturday April 21, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family., Born in Troy, he is the son of the late Russell and Dorothy Seymour. .

Don proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and continued his service in the New York Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1977 after 26 years of service to our country. He was employed as a Sales Engineer for General Electric and was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century Club. Don was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Mt. Moriah Lodge and also served as the Grand Marshall of the Troy Parade in 1975.

 Don was member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lansingburgh.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Gloria M. Seymour; his children, Jan (Marc) Gray and Donna L. Seymour; step-children, Gloria (Russell) Britton, Dorinda (Noble, Jr.) Jenkins, Gladys (Angelo) Garrett-Hilton and Addie (Andre) Taliaferro. He is also survived by three grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Don was predeceased by his siblings, David Seymour, Dorothy Johnson, Eleanor Seymour and Blanche Seymour.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to St. Peter's Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion  shown  to Don and his family throughout his illness.

Funeral services for Don will be held on Thursday April 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Ave. Troy, NY 12182.

A calling hour will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Interment will follow with military honors at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
