The qualities I have mentioned were not just practiced by Howard, they were his essence.
Howard was a man of great accomplishment although he never worn it on his shoulder:
• On the day WWII ended with the signing the peace treaty in Tokyo Bay aboard the Battleship Missouri, Howard was there alongside on the Destroyer Wedderburn.
• Howard built his first house in Scotia, nights and weekends.
• He was twice president of the GE Apprentice Alumni Association.
• He was a Mason for 70 years achieving the 32th degree.
I could go on. Throughout his life Howard belonged to a multitude of civic organizations, professional associates, and churches. In each one he was not just a member, but rather he was a contributor and leader. He gently mentored those junior to him whether at work or doing a project in the back yard.
Howard was someone to look up to, always there to hear you out, overlook your faults, and make you laugh. It was how Howard treated everyone. In a world of constant change his good heart and sound judgement were never out of date.
He was magnificent to the women in his life including my mother. Loving, providing, protecting, and always a gentleman.
Howard is the best man I have ever known, and I am proud and privileged to call him my father.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will be remembered with great warmth and respect.
I leave you with this thought: Howard improved every one of us and made us better human beings by knowing him.

Howard on a scale 1 to 10 has to be a 9.66, there was only 1 perfect one but Howard was like his bowling score, he was 299 out of 300. Kind, honest, helpful, loyal, jolly and much more. He will be missed by the GEAAA & Lodge 915. I'll miss the visits and the history lessons shared with him. His religious outlook and strong friendships were shared with joy and convictions. May Our Lord be pleased to have him enter into His kingdom.Howard, you will be missed,I among many will miss you. Rest in peace my friend, brother and mentor. Blessing to you and your family.

Howard is an amazing man. I hesitate to use the word "was" as I still believe he is among the living; just not with us. He is one of the kindest, gentlest souls I have ever met, always welcoming, always willing to tell a tale, and sit for a spell to chat. I can still hear his voice, long ago when I would call. I regret not keeping in better touch.
There is a gap in the universe with his passing, I can truly say "they don't make them like that anymore". If we can get just one gift from his passing, maybe there is a soul that was born recently that would have been given the gift of "Howard".
Heaven is a lucky place now that Howard is in it. I know that Dorothy is up there welcoming him with open arms.
God Bless Howard, may you shine down upon us.
My deepest condolences to the Craig and the family.
